I'm a 67 year old male who has never sewed before. I've used any number of woodworking power tools, but this is entirely new. Fortunately there are any number of support tutorials available online.
When you use this great product overseas you need to purchase an electrical converter for the electric current rated for that country. I think every person should use this sewing machine because it has some many of the sewing options needed for those living and in fashion in other countries.Great...
I had a Singer heavy-duty machine for 25 years. I used it like crazy and there were always little things going wrong with it (like the bobbin case cracking, etc.). Well, when the feed dog finally went out, I just decided to get a new one.
Sews nicely. My previous Singer sewing machine was 41 years old and it finally broke. The foot pedal is really light and moves around on the floor due to the cord to the foot pedal being a little to short. The foot pedal could be a little wider too. My old machine was almost all metal.
I don't have any complaints about the stitching, but as many reviews state, it's truly difficult to control the speed of sewing. You have to press the pedal down a lot to start the machine moving, at which point it starts sewing rapidly, and after that you can back off to a slower stitch.
I use heavy Fabrics and Heavy thread and sew for 4 to 5 hours a day on this machine and it has held up very nicely!Stitch PerformanceI use the Straight stich and zig zag stich and they work very well!Ease of UseEasy to thread, pick stices and load bobbin!Fabric HandlingI sew with duck cloth.
The Singer 4423 machine replaced my 45 year old Singer machine. I love the 4423. It is easy to thread and use. The carrying handle makes it easy to move to another location. It is a great machine for a beginner.
Background: I have had the 4423 for several months but wanted to hold off submitting my review. I have sewn for approximately the last 50 years. I replaced an electronic Viking Husqvarna sewing machine (25+ years old) and an old White serger, with the 4423 Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machine.

I absolutely love this piece of machinery and it is quite easy to use. The one thing I struggled a tad with is the automatic threader. Even reading the instructions, it was a tad confusing. Other than that, I love this sewing machine
