  Terrible battery life and a mushy shutter mechanism may negatively impact your shooting experience. Also, there's general highlight clipping in still photos and artifacts in some high-ISO-sensitivity shots that we hope Sony can improve via a firmware update.

Sony’s A-series cameras have gotten a lot of coverage in the photo press in the last few years with the recently introduced Sony A7R II receiving the kind of the pre-release hype not seen since the launch of the Canon 5D Mark II back in 2008.

On a recent flight to Europe, I bonded permanently with my Sony A7RII , the increasingly legendary new full-frame mirrorless camera. It happened over New York City, when opportunity scrolled slowly into view shortly after departing from Newark.

Digital devices often look good on paper but don’t always follow through to meet the promises of their specifications. Not so with the Sony a7R II , which is chock full of features, technology and performance enhancements that held real promise when first announced.

This was released on December 18, 2015. Since that version I have not experienced any overheating problems when shooting documentary/event 4k video with the A7RII.

I've always been ALL Nikon. I currently have a D700, D800, D810... and many zoom and prime nikon lenses.... and even though I didn't want to believe it, this Sony is amazing. I am using it with the sony 35 1.4--- and Im so happy with the images...

This camera is perfect for my that have a lot of Leica Lens. The Leica M with Leica lens is 10, the best in the world, but I cant use telezoom lens, so with this camera I can use my Leica lens and also sony (70-400). So I have the best of this 2 worlds.

Owned a7, a7r, rx1, rx1r, a850, a6000...this is by far the best of them all...fantastic IQ even at high iso, i can shoot even at 10,000 without worrying about the image. If you are thinking of making a switch to mirrorless then this is what you want if you want the best even if its two years old,...

The camera is the best of both worlds. It can shoot high resolution pictures and 4k video in one tiny package. There are some drawbacks like poor selection of native lenses, the jello effect with videos and some autofocus issues, but the positives outweigh the negatives of this camera.

  Short Battery Life

I am very pleased with my A7RII. I use it with the new 24-70 G mostly and it is a little heavy and I wish it had a mount on the lens. The battery life is less than desirable but carrying a spare does the trick and charging the small battery doesn't take long.

4k video! now I have to upgrade my computer...

  Trying a mirrorless camera after 20 years of SLR and DSLRs. I am impressed with the build and with a great line up of Sony/Zeiss lenses. I bought this for a trip abroad where i can only bring one small camera bag.

  A learning curve switching systems and menus..

I was and still am a happy Nikon D810 user, but also a middle aged female with an illness that effects my muscles and strength. I wanted a camera system that matches the quality of what I am used too, but that is easier to carry around and use.

I love the size of the camera. It great for video, but kinda slow for photos for me. The video quality is great, smooth and color is easy to edit. I really dont like shooting photos with it. Its too slow compared to my Nikon D810. Overall, its a great camera for the size and price.

The Sony A7Rii like the A7Sii is capable of truly remarkable photos. One of the big selling points of this camera is its ability to use a wide variety of lenses with the correct adaptor.
