Sony's FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens is a very good performer for a zoom lens and has plenty of features that will make it attractive to photographers. But it has some important limitations: such a wide-angle lens is not usually suitable for close-up work, although the 35mm focal length is usable with...
I was looking for a sharp wide lens that could actually give me some bokeh. This does just that. The construction is nice great quality. I highly recommend this lens.
Gosh, a step change in quality. Image and build.
upgraded from the 16-35 f4. Sharper and although it weighs a bit more, the weight distribution makes it easier to carry
Purchase date: 21/12/17 - Problem date: 01/09/18 - Symptom: Does NOT focus when I zoom above 16mm, even respecting the minimal focus distance and using any Automatic Focus setting (lens and camera). This is supposed to be PRO GRADE lens! I am using it with a Sony Alpha a7R III.
I took the Sony 16-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, and the 70-200 f/2.8 to Hawaii in August (all rented) and almost never took the 16-35 off my a9. For what I do, adventure/travel with my family, it was incredible: fast focus, ultra sharp edge to edge, kept up with he a9s tremendous focusing speed and...
I'm a fine art outdoor photographer, and have used many different lenses over the past 50+ years. This is one lens that lives up to the hype. It's almost as sharp as the best Zeiss wide angle prime, and at every focal length from 16mm to 35mm.
this lens should have more reviews than the 24-70mm. I used the 2470 of Nikon for over 10 years. The more I shoot, the more I found the 2470 boring. I shoot wedding, street and portrait.
