Let’s start by comparing the parameters of the new binoculars with those of their predecessor, with the help of the following chart . As you see the appearance of both instruments is very similar.

+
well-build, handy and stylish casing,, good transmission,, sharp image in almost all field of view,, excellent distortion control,, very low astigmatism,, sensibly controlled coma,, good quality of prisms and coatings,, low brightness loss on the edge of the field,, very good whiteness rendering,,...

egg-shaped exit pupils.
When you take the Viper to your hand, one thing that attracts your attention is the high build quality, fully confirmed in the tests. In such categories as housing, focusing, blackening, collimation, tripod, minimal focus or IPD the Vortex Viper had nearly perfect results.

slightly truncated pupils.
These are excellent - the new improved extra field of view on the new 2018 models greatly improved what already were a great set of binos. The image is crystal clear - I was comparing these to the Nikon Monarch 7 and the Mavin C1.
The binoculars are incredible. The glass is extremely clear producing crisply sharp images. I looked at every binocular I could get my hands on before I bought these and I can say these are comparable or better than some that costed well over 1K. What I love most is the massive sight picture.

Easy on the eyes I bought the Vortex Viper HD 10x42 Binocular as a Christmas gift for my husband to use when he goes elk hunting. We brought them on our recent trip to Hawaii.
Definitely hits the "Goldilocks" spot - everything is "just right."

Sharp, easy to focus, comfortable eyecups, very good eye relief.

Lens covers over objectives sometimes fall off body.
Very impressed with my 10x42 new Viper HDs.The pack does come with a GlassPak already so the extra gift is a spare. Crisp vision and easily adjustable with two separate dials.Very pleased and only took 5 days to come to Melbourne, Aus!
A little hard to evaluate the Vortex Viper 10 X 42 since it is the first 10 X 42 binocular I've owned. But for my use -- watching yachts pass by on the ICW and birds/dolphins -- it seems amazingly clear and easy to use/focus.
