This is a great lens. It is super sharp and lives up to the Zeiss quality. I would suggest buying generic lens cap with it because the Zeiss lens cap is cheap and falls off easily. I gave this rating four stars because of the cheap quality lens cap they put on a beautiful lens.
This lens quickly became my favorite lens. The distortion is limited, but you can catch it sometimes on the fringe, but overall great for the focal length. The color that comes from this lens is out of this world, with a nice healthy dose of contrast straight off.
Ive made about 1500 images with this lens since acquiring it in July of 2018. I almost always shoot wide and first became interested in this lens when I realized more than 90% of what I was shooting with the Sony G master 24-70 on my A7Rii was shot at 24mm.
I don't even know why we need a review on this lens. It is obviously a fantastic lens. I don't know how anyone could rate it less than a 4 star and I am going all the way to 5! Amazing is all I can say. Best wide angle in my vast collection of lenses.
I took a series of test images at one-stop intervals, comparing this with my Sony Zeiss 55 f1.8 and after a lot of pixel peeping, think this lens is nearly just as sharp as the 55 f1.8. Both at the center and out to the corners. Contrast and color are good IMO.
Wow. Just got back from 2 week trip to Japan. My photos are amazing. Bokeh in portraits is actually fantastic. It takes a minute to explain that it is a wide angle lens otherwise people get a bit uneasy about me being so close... then they see the pics! #nofilter #nopost
I bought this lens as THE single lens that I would travel with on multi-day backpacking trips to do both day and night landscape / astrophotography. It has been great for both and would highly recommend it for anyone trying to have a great wide angle, fast lens, but minimize weight.
Oh man, I want more Batis lenses. This one is sharp, and the colors are great. Love this lens as a landscape lens. Buy one if you want a 25mm lens.
Got the this lens a few weeks ago and OMG, I am hooked. Challenged myself and decided to take this as my only lens on a recent business trip to Singapore and couldnt be happier. The contrast and sharpness are off the hook.
At f/2, this does not let as much light in as my Nikkor 24mm f/1.4 but there is a clear advantage in weight. This lens weighs about half of the comparable Nikkor. It balances well on the A7ii/A7rii bodies and cutting weight is part of why I chose these systems.
